An audience has been granted to a three man delegation of the evaluation mission of the German Development Cooperation, DEval, by the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife in the conference hall of the ministerial department.

The discussion centered mainly on the Cameroon-Germany bi-lateral cooperation especially in the area of protected areas management, Germany being the main financial partner supporting protected areas management in Cameroon. The objective of the mission was to evaluate the technical and financial support mobilized from 2016 to 2021 for the benefit of wildlife conservation, in terms of success and failures as well as perspectives for future cooperation.

From the discussions, it came out clear that German support to protected areas management is quite visible on the ground with some main items like infrastructure, equipment for eco-guards, capacity building, biomonitoring, fight against poaching and support to local communities’ livelihood.

While appreciating this fruitful cooperation between our two countries, Minister Jules Doret Ndongo seized the opportunity to request more support and the improvement of the fund disbursement mechanism of the basket fund in order to ameliorate the execution of projects.
