Douala, Cameroon, December 21, 2020- The Cameroonian government with the support of WWF, PROFOREST and AFD through the BIODEV2030 project, organized an exchange workshop on improving the involvement and participation of the sector to the REDD + process in Cameroon. Kinshasa will host the third summit of heads of state of member countries of the Commission for Forests of Central Africa (COMIFAC) during the first quarter of 2021. The announcement was made this Friday, December 11 by the Congolese minister in charge of the Environment, Claude Nyamugabo Bazibuhe, during the closing of the work of the eighth meeting of the Governing Council of the Partnership for the forests of the Congo Basin (CBFP). "I am pleased to announce to you my country's commitment to organize in Kinshasa, the third summit of heads of state and government of COMIFAC, during the first quarter of the year 2021," he said. -he declares. This summit, he added, will be held under the leadership of Félix Antoine Tshisekedi, president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and current president of the African Union. By organizing these meetings in Kinshasa, the Democratic Republic of Congo via its President of the Republic will ensure its ecological leadership. Because it owns 60% of the tropical forests of Central Africa and it will be able to make amendments to the Treaty on the conservation and sustainable management of the ecosystems of Central Africa.
